I consider him a friend and may actually have the opportunity to visit his seasonal Montana gold mine this summer. I can tell that Will is a great guy from my correspondence with him, I'm casting no dispersion on him. I think Will bought a few from him at an exorbitant price. It is also my understanding that this is just a sample of some of his better stones. It's my semi-educated opinion that there's no way one man could do it casually looking for stones here and there through the years.

In my opinion, a collection of Cowee Valley stones of the rarest quality like this would have to be done by going through hundreds of buckets every day for decades. This photo seems to give some creedance to the story in my mind. We would advise our customers to go elsewhere. Rumor has it that this fellow would take people's stones and give them something else back in return and present it as the cut stones. Yes, exactly! It's my understanding this is a photo Will took of stones owned by the guy who ran Cowee Valley Lapidary. Yes, quite rare indeed, this kind of quality in the crystal shape is more rare since the Cowee Valley is an extremely ancient an alluvial deposit.
